2016 MDS Update
MDS has been in business over twenty-two years. During the twenty-two years MDS completeded a combination of seventy-three medical device and drug discovery projects. Five medical product development projects were completed during the past seven years. The five projects consisted of two manufacturing equipment projects, two medical material projects, and one major quality system project for genetic based medicine. Since we are very careful about protecting our customer's information, we cannot provide much detail about the projects. Project customers ranged from a small device manufacturer to a very large multi-national drug company. Some of the newly developed technology is currently in the market and the remainder is in various phases of use by customers.

MDS continues to use its low greenhouse gas emission, energy sustainable, service business model which allows MDS to focus on our customer's needs. Over the past seven years, 2009-2015, very little MDS air travel was for medical development project work. As a corporation, during the past seven years, MDS averaged a company total of 3,053 annual business car miles. The 3,053 company average car miles included both medical technology project miles and mileage for performing requested business volunteer activities. In performing daily work, MDS employees neither contributed significantly to greenhouse gas emissions or highway congestion. Because our employees were not routinely in traffic, we accomplished more each day. We recognize that work is also a social activity. During the past seven years we participated in local and international social activities both during work hours and after work hours.

Our personnel continue to upgrade their technology knowledge and skills. Our skill focuses are in all aspects of medical technology and appropriate computer technology.
MDS Website Content
Website Update

Most of the articles in our website are not new. Still, the old content is very relevant as slow change has occurred toward a more sustainable global business structure. Over the past seven years, while nations have made progress in slowing greenhouse gas emissions, the progress rate is inadequate to address the level of greenhouse gas reduction necessary to mitigate climate change and human health decline. Rather than focusing on website updates, our time was better spent in increasing the understanding of the need, by global leaders, for businesses to become environmentally sustainable. And to successfully complete our medical technology development projects which demonstrates there are sustainable workforce structure alternatives. Since our last update, we shared information with government and business leaders.

The movement to electric vehicles is positive. The progress in implementing solar, wind, and geothermal generated electricity is also a step forward (see MDS 2009 article Green House Gas Solutions). The world has begun the long journey toward sustainable green energy in a few global locations. However, Green energy will not address highway congestion. As population densities increase, business park congestion will increase and lower the quality of life for employees. Technology advancements will continue to replace traditional jobs. The MDS business model which is based in work from home, low natural resource consumption, and employee creativity addresses several sustainability needs.

Remote work, which is work from any place one is located, does not address the problems. Remote work encourages a mobile workforce. During the past seven years, changes in the work force has trended toward remote work. We can envision no business long term benefit from remote work practices. The benefit of digitally based work comes from moving work to people and not from moving people to work. The latter just wastes energy, people time, generates health damaging pollution, and creates highway congestion. Twenty-two years of MDS success has proven what can be accomplished.
